Adaptive Automaton + Clock of Omens + Magda, Brazen Outlaw

Overview
If Adaptive Automaton was chosen to be a Dwarf as it entered the battlefield (see and Ruling [2024-11-08]), you can tap Adaptive Automaton and Clock of Omens (the Clock’s activation cost is “Tap two untapped artifacts you control”) to pay that cost, which will cause Adaptive Automaton to become tapped and thus trigger Magda’s “Whenever a Dwarf you control becomes tapped, create a Treasure token” (Ruling [2021-02-05]). Clock of Omens’ ability then resolves and can untap an artifact (including the Automaton), leaving you with one Treasure. You cannot loop this with only those three cards because Clock will be tapped after the first activation unless you have another way to untap it or additional untapped artifacts to pay the cost again.
Step 1
When Adaptive Automaton entered the battlefield, its controller chose Dwarf as its creature type (see and Ruling [2024-11-08]); Adaptive Automaton is now an Artifact Creature — Construct and a Dwarf and will be affected by effects that care about Dwarves.
Step 2
Clock of Omens’ activation cost is “Tap two untapped artifacts you control.” To activate it you may tap Clock of Omens and Adaptive Automaton (both must be untapped as you begin paying the cost). Tapping the Automaton as part of that cost causes it to change from untapped to tapped.
Step 3
Because Adaptive Automaton is a Dwarf and it changed from untapped to tapped, Magda’s triggered ability ("Whenever a Dwarf you control becomes tapped, create a Treasure token") triggers (Ruling [2021-02-05]).
Step 4
Resolve the Clock of Omens activation: its effect is “Untap target artifact.” You may target Adaptive Automaton with that effect; when the ability resolves the Automaton becomes untapped. (Magda’s trigger, created earlier, is on the stack and will resolve separately to create a Treasure.)
Step 5
After resolution you will have created one Treasure from Magda’s triggered ability; the final tapped/untapped state of Clock and Automaton depends on which artifact you targeted with Clock’s effect.
Step 6
You cannot repeat this exact sequence again immediately with only these three cards because Clock will be tapped (or you will lack two untapped artifacts) and you need two untapped artifacts to pay the Clock activation cost again. Additional untap effects or extra untapped artifacts are required to loop.
Resolution
Assuming Adaptive Automaton was chosen to be a Dwarf as it entered the battlefield (Ruling [2024-11-08]), tapping Adaptive Automaton and Clock of Omens to activate the Clock will cause Adaptive Automaton to become tapped and therefore trigger Magda’s Treasure ability (Ruling [2021-02-05]). Clock of Omens’ ability then can untap an artifact (it may target the Automaton), but you only get one Treasure from that single activation unless you have additional resources to pay the Clock’s cost again. The restriction on activating creature abilities with a tap symbol (summoning sickness) does not stop you from tapping the Automaton to pay Clock’s cost; see .
