Ioreth of the Healing House
AI DraftFeb 26, 2026

Aphetto Alchemist + Ioreth of the Healing House

Overview
Aphetto Alchemist’s activated ability ({T}: Untap target artifact or creature) can untap Ioreth of the Healing House (a creature) and Ioreth’s first ability ({T}: Untap another target permanent) can untap Aphetto Alchemist (another permanent), provided each chosen target is a legal target. Both creatures’ tap-ability activations require the creature to be untapped and to have been under its controller’s control continuously since that player’s most recent turn began . If Aphetto is face down due to morph, it is a 2/2 with no text and therefore can’t activate its untap ability ; likewise, a face-down creature has no legendary supertype and so can’t be targeted by Ioreth’s second ability that requires legendary creatures .
Step 1
To activate Aphetto Alchemist’s ability you must tap Aphetto as part of its activation cost; the creature must be untapped and must have been under its controller’s control continuously since that player’s most recent turn began .
Step 2
When you activate Aphetto’s ability you choose a target artifact or creature (any legal target) and put the activated ability on the stack. When that ability resolves, it untaps the chosen target (if it is still a legal target).
Step 3
To activate Ioreth’s first ability you must tap Ioreth as part of its activation cost; Ioreth’s ability can target another target permanent (it can’t target Ioreth itself because of the word “another”). The activation is legal only if Ioreth has been under its controller’s control continuously since that player’s most recent turn began .
Step 4
Ioreth’s second ability is also an activated ability with a tap cost; it reads “{T}: Untap two other target legendary creatures.” Each chosen target must be a legendary creature and neither target may be Ioreth itself because of the word “other.”
Step 5
If Aphetto is face down due to being cast face down with morph, it has no text and so cannot activate its untap ability; while face down it is a 2/2 with no name, no text, and no supertypes (so it isn’t legendary) .
Step 6
Turning a face-down permanent face up is a special action a player may take when they have priority and requires paying the morph cost shown on the card, if any .
Resolution
Aphetto can untap Ioreth and Ioreth can untap Aphetto (using Ioreth’s first ability) as long as each activation is legal and the chosen target(s) meet the ability’s requirements. Ioreth’s abilities both include the word “another”/“other,” so neither of those abilities may target Ioreth itself. Both creatures’ activated abilities have a tap symbol in their activation cost, so they can only be activated if the creature has been under its controller’s control continuously since that player’s most recent turn began . If Aphetto is face down (morphed) it has no text and cannot activate its untap ability, and it also loses the legendary supertype (so it can’t be targeted by Ioreth’s “legendary creatures” ability) while it’s face down and turning a face-down permanent face up is a special action .
