Beacon of Immortality
Enduring Tenacity
AI DraftFeb 26, 2026

Beacon of Immortality + Enduring Tenacity

Overview
When Beacon of Immortality doubles a player’s life total, that player gains the difference between the new total and the old total, which is a single life-gain event and therefore causes Enduring Tenacity’s "Whenever you gain life..." ability to trigger once (if the player who gained life controls Enduring Tenacity); Enduring Tenacity’s "dies" clause won’t return it because it’s an enchantment, not a creature. Step 1
You cast Beacon of Immortality choosing a target player and it resolves (assuming it isn’t countered); its effect sets that target player's life total to twice its current value.
Step 2
The change in the player's life total is implemented by increasing that player's life total from the old value to the new value; the amount increased is treated as a single life-gain event caused by Beacon.
Step 3
Enduring Tenacity’s triggered ability reads "Whenever you gain life, target opponent loses that much life." Because the player gained life, that triggered ability triggers once for the single life-gain event.
Step 4
The triggered ability goes on the stack and, when it resolves, the chosen opponent loses life equal to the amount the Tenacity’s controller gained.
Step 5
Beacon’s secondary instruction to shuffle itself into its owner’s library happens as part of Beacon’s resolution; if Beacon was countered or didn’t resolve, it goes to its owner’s graveyard instead. [Ruling 2007-07-15]
Step 6
Enduring Tenacity’s second line (the "when it dies, if it was a creature, return it to the battlefield" clause) will not trigger or apply because the card is an enchantment and is not a creature as printed.
Resolution
If Beacon of Immortality resolves and doubles a player’s life total, that player experiences one life-gain event equal to the amount their life total increased, and Enduring Tenacity will trigger once for that life gain (targeting an opponent to lose that much life). If Beacon is countered or doesn’t resolve it is put into its owner’s graveyard and not shuffled into the library. Enduring Tenacity’s "When ... dies, if it was a creature, return it ..." will not apply because the card is an enchantment, not a creature. [Ruling 2007-07-15] [Ruling 2024-09-20]
