Blazing Sunsteel
Brash Taunter
AI DraftFeb 26, 2026

Blazing Sunsteel + Brash Taunter

Overview
If Brash Taunter is equipped with Blazing Sunsteel and is dealt damage, two separate triggered abilities will trigger: Blazing Sunsteel’s “Whenever equipped creature is dealt damage, it deals that much damage to any target” and Brash Taunter’s “Whenever this creature is dealt damage, it deals that much damage to target opponent.” Damage dealt to the creature is marked on it as the event occurs and can be greater than the creature’s toughness; each trigger will deal the full amount of damage that was dealt, not limited by toughness and Ruling [2020-11-10]. The triggers are created after the damage event and will be put on the stack to resolve normally (see triggered-ability handling) .
Step 1
A source deals damage to Brash Taunter (this can be combat damage; if combat damage, the damage-dealing step is simultaneous for creatures as described in ).
Step 2
The damage dealt is marked on Brash Taunter (damage marking rules apply) and the amount dealt is recorded for purposes of triggered abilities and .
Step 3
Both triggered abilities that watch for “this creature/equipped creature being dealt damage” trigger from that same damage event and are put into the pool of triggered abilities to be put on the stack .
Step 4
Those triggered abilities are put on the stack and will resolve in the normal way for triggered abilities (players get priority and the stack resolves). When each trigger resolves it instructs the relevant source to deal damage equal to the amount that was dealt earlier.
Step 5
When a trigger resolves, it deals the full amount of damage that was dealt to the creature in the original event (the amount does not get reduced to the creature’s toughness) per and Ruling [2020-11-10].
Step 6
If a trigger’s chosen target is illegal when that trigger resolves, that trigger won’t resolve and does nothing (see Ruling [2020-06-23] for target-illegality behavior).
Step 7
State-based actions are checked whenever priority would be received; if any creature has damage marked on it greater than or equal to its toughness it would be destroyed as a state-based action, except effects like indestructible or regeneration can change that outcome and .
Resolution
When the equipped Brash Taunter is dealt damage, both the equipment’s trigger and Brash Taunter’s trigger will trigger from that same damage event and be placed on the stack . Each trigger, when it resolves, deals the full amount of damage that was dealt to the creature to its chosen/targeted object or player (that amount can exceed the creature’s toughness) and Ruling [2020-11-10]. If a trigger’s target is illegal when that trigger resolves, that trigger won’t resolve (it does nothing) (see Ruling [2020-06-23] for target-illegality guidance).
