Chandra's Incinerator
Repercussion
AI DraftFeb 26, 2026

Chandra's Incinerator + Repercussion

Overview
When a source you control deals noncombat damage to an opponent, Chandra's Incinerator's triggered ability will trigger and (on resolution) deal that much damage to a target creature or planeswalker that player controls. If the target is a creature, Repercussion will then trigger from that creature being dealt damage and (on resolution) deal that much damage to that creature's controller. If the original noncombat damage to the player was redirected to a planeswalker, Chandra's Incinerator's trigger does not occur because no damage was dealt to the opponent .
Step 1
A source you control deals noncombat damage to an opponent (unless that damage is redirected to a planeswalker by the opponent as a replacement effect under , Chandra's Incinerator's triggered ability will trigger).
Step 2
That trigger goes on the stack and later resolves; Chandra's Incinerator's ability deals damage equal to the amount dealt to the opponent to the targeted creature or planeswalker the damaged player controls.
Step 3
If the target is a creature, that creature is dealt damage and Repercussion triggers because it triggers “Whenever a creature is dealt damage.”
Step 4
State-based actions are checked after damage is dealt and before triggered abilities are put on the stack; the creature might be destroyed by those state-based actions (, ), but Repercussion's trigger was already triggered by the damage event and will be put on the stack.
Step 5
When Repercussion's trigger resolves it deals that much noncombat damage to the creature's controller (the same player who controlled the creature).
Step 6
Repercussion dealing damage to that player does not cause Chandra's Incinerator to trigger again unless the damage was dealt by a source you control, because Chandra's trigger only watches for noncombat damage dealt to your opponents (and only by whatever sources deal the damage in question).
Resolution
Sequence: the original noncombat damage to the opponent happens first. That causes Chandra's Incinerator to trigger (only if damage was dealt to the opponent, not redirected) and later deal equal damage to the chosen target creature or planeswalker. If the target is a creature, Repercussion triggers from that creature being dealt damage and, when it resolves, deals that much damage to the creature's controller. Repercussion dealing damage to the player does not itself trigger Chandra's Incinerator (Chandra watches for noncombat damage to opponents by sources you control) and redirection to a planeswalker prevents Chandra's trigger from occurring and Repercussion triggers only from creatures being dealt damage .
