Overview

When you activate Orthion, Hero of Lavabrink’s ability to create one or five token copies of a creature you control, each token entering the battlefield will cause Terror of the Peaks’ triggered ability to trigger (one trigger per entering token). Each trigger, when it resolves, deals damage equal to that entering token’s power (use last-known information if the token left the battlefield before resolution) Ruling [2020-06-23] Ruling [2023-04-14].

Step 1

Activate Orthion’s ability during a main phase you have priority, pay the cost and tap Orthion (Orthion’s activation is sorcery-speed, so you must meet that timing).

Step 2

When the ability resolves, it creates the specified number of token copies of the targeted creature and gives them haste and a delayed sacrifice instruction as part of their characteristics; the tokens enter the battlefield under your control .

Step 3

Each token entering the battlefield causes Terror of the Peaks’ triggered ability ("Whenever another creature you control enters...") to trigger; you get one separate triggered ability for each entering token .

Step 4

State-based actions are checked and then the triggered abilities are placed on the stack; you (and opponents) will receive priority to cast responses while those triggers are on the stack .

Step 5

When each Terror trigger resolves, it deals damage equal to that entering token’s power as the trigger resolves; if the token has already left the battlefield by the time the trigger resolves, use its last known power on the battlefield to determine the damage amount (Ruling [2020-06-23]).

Step 6

At the beginning of the next end step, each token is sacrificed due to the text applied when the tokens were created (that sacrifice is part of the tokens’ defined characteristics) .

Resolution

Each token Orthion creates that enters the battlefield will trigger Terror of the Peaks separately; each trigger deals damage equal to that entering token’s power as the trigger resolves, even if the token is later sacrificed or otherwise leaves the battlefield before the trigger resolves (use last-known power) Ruling [2020-06-23] Ruling [2023-04-14]. Tokens gain haste so they can act immediately . The tokens are sacrificed at the beginning of the next end step as part of Orthion’s effect .
