Overview

Sacrificing a creature with Viscera Seer moves that creature from the battlefield to your graveyard (it enters your graveyard), so that action does not cause any card to leave your graveyard and therefore does not trigger Thran Vigil. Actions that remove cards from your graveyard (for example, scavenge) will trigger Thran Vigil .

Step 1

You activate Viscera Seer's ability and sacrifice a creature on the battlefield as the cost or effect of that ability; when sacrificed, that creature is put into its owner's graveyard (it enters the graveyard) .

Step 2

Thran Vigil's trigger condition is "Whenever one or more artifact and/or creature cards leave your graveyard during your turn..." — it looks for cards leaving your graveyard, not cards entering it.

Step 3

Because the sacrificed creature entered your graveyard rather than leaving it, no Thran Vigil trigger is generated by that sacrifice .

Step 4

If, instead, a card actually leaves your graveyard (for example, you exile a creature card from your graveyard or you activate scavenge on a creature card in your graveyard), Thran Vigil will trigger once for the card(s) that left the graveyard during your turn .

Resolution

If you sacrifice a creature using Viscera Seer, Thran Vigil will not trigger because the sacrificed creature is put into your graveyard (it entered the graveyard rather than left it) . Thran Vigil only triggers when one or more artifact and/or creature cards leave your graveyard during your turn (for example, by scavenge) .
