Overview

If you target a Dualcaster Mage with Molten Duplication, Molten Duplication creates a token that enters the battlefield as a copy of that Dualcaster Mage and therefore that token’s “when this creature enters” triggered ability triggers; that triggered ability can target any instant or sorcery spell on the stack and will create a copy of that spell on the stack when the ability resolves [2016-06-08].

Step 1

You cast Molten Duplication targeting a Dualcaster Mage you control and it resolves. When it resolves it creates a token that’s a copy of the targeted creature and the token enters the battlefield as that copy .

Step 2

Because Molten Duplication’s token is created by the resolving spell, the token enters the battlefield face up and (per the card) is also an artifact, has haste until end of turn, and will be sacrificed at the beginning of the next end step; those effects are continuous or delayed from the resolution of Molten Duplication (card oracle text and general rules on permanents entering the battlefield) .

Step 3

The token is a copy of Dualcaster Mage, so it has the same enters-the-battlefield triggered ability. That enters-the-battlefield ability triggers when the token enters the battlefield and will be put on the stack (subject to normal triggering/placement rules) .

Step 4

When that triggered ability is put on the stack its controller chooses the target instant or sorcery spell on the stack to copy. The triggered ability can target any instant or sorcery spell on the stack, regardless of who controls that spell [2016-06-08].
