AI DraftFeb 26, 2026

Krenko, Mob Boss + Rising of the Day + Skirk Prospector

Overview
When you activate Krenko, Mob Boss’s {T} ability it will create X 1/1 Goblin tokens where X is the number of Goblins you control when that ability resolves (it counts Krenko and any other Goblins you control) [Ruling [2012-07-01]]. Rising of the Day gives creatures you control haste, so any tokens created by Krenko will have haste and can act immediately. You can sacrifice any Goblin you control to Skirk Prospector’s activated ability to add {R}, including Skirk Prospector itself [Ruling [2022-12-08]]; sacrificing Goblins before Krenko’s ability resolves changes the value of X, while sacrificing them after resolution does not. Permanents (including tokens) enter the battlefield untapped unless something says otherwise .
Step 1
Activate Krenko, Mob Boss’s ability by tapping Krenko; that puts the activated ability on the stack (the {T} is a cost you pay when activating the ability).
Step 2
If the ability resolves right away, determine X as the number of Goblins you control at that moment; X includes Krenko itself and any other Goblins you control [Ruling [2012-07-01]].
Step 3
Create X 1/1 red Goblin creature tokens. Those tokens are permanents that enter the battlefield untapped unless something says otherwise .
Step 4
Because Rising of the Day’s continuous effect gives creatures you control haste, the new tokens have haste and can attack, be tapped for abilities, or be sacrificed immediately the same turn.
Step 5
You may activate Skirk Prospector’s ability by sacrificing a Goblin you control as the cost to add {R}; you can sacrifice newly created tokens or other Goblins, and you may even sacrifice Skirk Prospector itself to pay that cost if you choose [Ruling [2022-12-08]].
Step 6
If you want more tokens from Krenko’s ability, do not sacrifice Goblins (including Krenko) before that ability resolves, because X is checked on resolution and will be lower if there are fewer Goblins then [Ruling [2012-07-01]].
Step 7
If you activated Krenko and then, before it resolved, sacrificed Krenko itself (for example as the cost of Skirk Prospector’s ability), Krenko’s ability remains on the stack but will count fewer Goblins on resolution because Krenko is no longer on the battlefield [Ruling [2012-07-01]].
Resolution
Krenko’s ability creates a number of Goblins equal to the number of Goblins you control at the moment that ability resolves (it counts Krenko itself) [Ruling [2012-07-01]]. Rising of the Day grants haste to those new Goblin tokens so they can be used immediately. You may use Skirk Prospector’s ability to sacrifice any Goblin you control (including Skirk Prospector itself) to produce {R} [Ruling [2022-12-08]]. If you sacrifice Goblins (including Krenko) in response to Krenko’s activated ability resolving, X will be lower because the number is checked on resolution; if you sacrifice Goblins after Krenko’s ability resolves, that does not retroactively change the number of tokens created. Tokens enter untapped by default .
