Aggravated Assault
The Reaver Cleaver
AI DraftFeb 26, 2026

Aggravated Assault + The Reaver Cleaver

Overview
Aggravated Assault’s activated ability untaps your creatures and gives you an additional combat phase and main phase, allowing an equipped creature with The Reaver Cleaver to attack again and potentially generate Treasure tokens when it deals combat damage; damage is assigned per trample rules and dealt simultaneously in the combat damage step , and Cleaver’s triggered ability is put on the stack immediately after combat damage is dealt .
Step 1
Activate Aggravated Assault’s ability (only as a sorcery) and pay its cost; when it resolves it untaps all creatures you control and creates an additional combat phase followed by an additional main phase .
Step 2
After the ability resolves and you move into the additional combat phase, declare attackers normally; attackers must be untapped and either have haste or have been controlled since the turn began .
Step 3
Declare the Cleaver-equipped creature as an attacker in that additional combat; declaring it as an attacker will tap it (attacking taps creatures) per the declare attackers procedure .
Step 4
During the combat damage assignment step, assign the creature’s damage. If it’s blocked and has trample you must assign lethal damage to blockers first, then you may assign remaining damage to the defending player or planeswalker .
Step 5
When combat damage is dealt, all combat damage is dealt simultaneously during the combat damage step .
Step 6
Immediately after combat damage is dealt, any abilities that triggered on damage being dealt (including The Reaver Cleaver’s “Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player or planeswalker, create that many Treasure tokens”) are put on the stack .
Step 7
When the Cleaver’s triggered ability resolves it creates a number of Treasure tokens equal to the combat damage that creature dealt to a player or planeswalker (damage dealt to blockers doesn’t directly create tokens unless damage to a planeswalker was also dealt) as specified by the trigger’s text.
Resolution
Activate Aggravated Assault (as a sorcery) to untap your creatures and create an additional combat phase and main phase; you may then declare the Cleaver-equipped creature as an attacker in that extra combat, and when it deals combat damage to a player or planeswalker the Reaver Cleaver trigger will go on the stack after damage is dealt and create that many Treasure tokens when it resolves .
