AI DraftFeb 26, 2026

Carrion Feeder + Pawn of Ulamog + Pitiless Plunderer + Reassembling Skeleton

Overview
Sacrificing a creature to Carrion Feeder (for example, sacrificing Reassembling Skeleton) causes that creature to die as part of the cost, which will trigger Pawn of Ulamog (if the dead creature was a nontoken) and Pitiless Plunderer (for any other creature you control that died). Carrion Feeder's activated ability then resolves and puts a +1/+1 counter on the Feeder if it’s still on the battlefield. Pawn creates a 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn token when its trigger resolves; Pitiless Plunderer creates a Treasure token when its trigger resolves. Reassembling Skeleton can be returned from the graveyard later by paying its activated ability; it returns to the battlefield tapped.
Step 1
Activate Carrion Feeder's ability and pay its activation cost by sacrificing a creature (for example, Reassembling Skeleton). The sacrifice is paid as the cost of the activated ability; the sacrificed creature is put into the graveyard at that time.
Step 2
As that creature goes to the graveyard, triggered abilities that care about creatures dying are put on the stack: Pawn of Ulamog's triggered ability (it triggers because the dead creature was a nontoken creature) and Pitiless Plunderer's triggered ability (it triggers because another creature you control died). You (the controller of those triggers) choose the order in which those triggered abilities are placed on the stack.
Step 3
After the cost is paid, Carrion Feeder's activated ability resolves. It attempts to put a +1/+1 counter on 'this creature' (the Carrion Feeder). It will only get the counter if the Feeder is still on the battlefield when the ability resolves.
Step 4
Resolve the triggered abilities in the order you chose. When Pawn of Ulamog's trigger resolves it creates a 0/1 colorless Eldrazi Spawn token with 'Sacrifice this token: Add {C}.' When Pitiless Plunderer's trigger resolves it creates a Treasure token (an artifact token with '{T}, Sacrifice this token: Add one mana of any color').
Step 5
At a later time you may activate Reassembling Skeleton's ability from your graveyard (any time you could cast a sorcery) by paying {1}{B}; when that ability resolves the card returns to the battlefield tapped.
Resolution
When you activate Carrion Feeder's ability and pay its cost by sacrificing Reassembling Skeleton (or any creature you control): the sacrificed creature goes to the graveyard as part of the cost, and that event causes triggered abilities from Pawn of Ulamog (if the creature was a nontoken) and from Pitiless Plunderer (if Pitiless is still on the battlefield and the dying creature is “another” creature relative to it) to trigger and be placed on the stack. You then let Carrion Feeder's ability resolve; it will put a +1/+1 counter on the Feeder only if the Feeder is still on the battlefield. When Pawn's trigger resolves it creates a 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn token; when Pitiless's trigger resolves it creates a Treasure token. If multiple creatures die at the same time, Pawn and Pitiless each trigger the appropriate number of times (see Ruling [2010-06-15] for Pawn and Ruling [2018-01-19] for Pitiless). Reassembling Skeleton can later be returned from your graveyard by paying its activated ability and it will return tapped. Rulings: Ruling [2010-06-15], Ruling [2018-01-19].
