AI DraftFeb 26, 2026

Academy Manufactor + Camellia, the Seedmiser + Doubling Season + Peregrin Took

Overview
All three replacement effects (Academy Manufactor, Peregrin Took, and Doubling Season) can apply to the same token-creation event, and because you control all three you choose the order those replacement effects are applied; that choice changes the final tokens created. When you sacrifice Foods to Camellia, the Seedmiser, Camellia’s sacrifice-trigger creates a Squirrel token (once per sacrifice event), and that token-creation event is also affected by Peregrin Took and Doubling Season; Academy Manufactor only affects creation of Food, Clue, or Treasure tokens. The controller’s ordering choice is what determines the final counts (see step-by-step examples). Ruling [2023-06-16] Ruling [2021-06-18] Ruling [2024-11-08]
Step 1
Start with an event that would create a single Food token under your control (base event).
Step 2
Identify replacement effects that apply to that event: Academy Manufactor (replace creation of any Clue/Food/Treasure token with one of each), Peregrin Took (if one or more tokens would be created under your control, those tokens plus an additional Food are created instead), and Doubling Season (if an effect would create one or more tokens under your control, it creates twice that many) — all three can modify the same token-creation event. Ruling [2023-06-16] Ruling [2024-11-08]
Step 3
Because you control all three replacement effects, you choose the order to apply them; apply the first replacement to the base event to get a new event, then apply the second replacement to that new event, then the third, until no replacements remain.
Step 4
Example order A: Apply Academy Manufactor first. Base (1 Food) → Manufactor turns that into (1 Food, 1 Clue, 1 Treasure). Apply Peregrin next and it adds one Food for the whole event → (2 Food, 1 Clue, 1 Treasure). Apply Doubling Season last to double everything → (4 Food, 2 Clue, 2 Treasure) total.
Step 5
Example order B: Apply Peregrin first. Base (1 Food) → Peregrin adds one Food → (2 Food). Apply Academy Manufactor next (it acts on each Food) → (2 Food, 2 Clue, 2 Treasure). Apply Doubling Season last → (4 Food, 4 Clue, 4 Treasure) total.
Step 6
Example order C: Apply Doubling Season first. Base (1 Food) → Doubling Season makes it (2 Food). Apply Academy Manufactor next → (2 Food, 2 Clue, 2 Treasure). Apply Peregrin last (adds one Food for the whole event) → (3 Food, 2 Clue, 2 Treasure) total.
Step 7
When you sacrifice Foods to Camellia to pay the Forage cost (or otherwise sacrifice one or more Foods), Camellia’s triggered ability triggers once for that sacrifice event and will create a single 1/1 Squirrel token when it resolves. That Squirrel-creation event is subject to Doubling Season (which doubles the Squirrel) and to Peregrin Took (which will add one Food to that token-creation event), and Academy Manufactor will only affect that added Food (converting each Food created into one of each) — again the controller chooses replacement ordering for that event. Ruling [2023-06-16] Ruling [2024-11-08]
Step 8
Note: Sacrificing multiple Food tokens at once (for example sacrificing three Foods as a single action) triggers Camellia only once because it reads “Whenever you sacrifice one or more Foods…”.
Resolution
If an effect (for example, “create one Food token”) would create tokens under your control while you control Academy Manufactor, Peregrin Took, and Doubling Season (and you control the effect), the three replacement effects all apply to the same event and you, as the controller of those replacement effects, choose the order they are applied. Because of that ordering you can get different final results. For the common case where the original effect would create a single Food token, three representative orders give these results: if you apply Academy Manufactor → Peregrin Took → Doubling Season you end with 4 Food, 2 Clue, 2 Treasure (8 tokens total); if you apply Peregrin Took → Academy Manufactor → Doubling Season you end with 4 Food, 4 Clue, 4 Treasure (12 tokens total); if you apply Doubling Season → Academy Manufactor → Peregrin Took you end with 3 Food, 2 Clue, 2 Treasure (7 tokens total). Which order you choose is your choice because the replacement effects are controlled by you. Ruling [2023-06-16] Ruling [2024-11-08]
