Overview

With Peregrin Took on the battlefield, activating Warren Soultrader (pay 1 life, sacrifice another creature) will create its Treasure token and, because you are the one creating those tokens, Peregrin's replacement effect makes you create an additional Food token as well (Ruling [2023-06-16]). You can then sacrifice that Food to activate Cauldron Familiar's "Sacrifice a Food" ability to return Cauldron Familiar from your graveyard; when Cauldron Familiar enters, its triggered ability causes each opponent to lose 1 life and you to gain 1 life . You cannot use the same Food to pay multiple costs or pay Warren's sacrifice cost with a Food created by that same activation (Ruling [2024-11-08]; ).

Step 1

Activate Warren Soultrader's ability: pay 1 life and sacrifice another creature as part of the activation cost; the cost is paid before the ability resolves .

Step 2

When Warren's ability resolves it creates a Treasure token; because you are the one creating tokens, Peregrin Took's replacement effect causes an additional Food token to be created as well (Ruling [2023-06-16]).

Step 3

You now control the Treasure token and the Food token. The Food token is an artifact Food (Ruling [2024-11-08]).

Step 4

Activate Cauldron Familiar's activated ability from your graveyard by sacrificing that Food token as the cost; sacrificing the Food moves it to the graveyard as a cost (you cannot use that same Food to pay Warren's cost because Warren's cost was paid earlier and you can't retroactively use newly created tokens to pay already-paid costs (Ruling [2024-11-08]; )).

Step 5

Cauldron Familiar's 'Return this card from your graveyard to the battlefield' effect resolves and Cauldron Familiar enters the battlefield; its triggered ability triggers and when it resolves each opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life .

Resolution

Activate Warren Soultrader by paying 1 life and sacrificing another creature; its ability creates a Treasure token and, due to Peregrin Took, you also create a Food token instead of (or in addition to) the token(s) that would be created if those tokens are being created under your control (Ruling [2023-06-16]). That Food token can then be sacrificed to pay Cauldron Familiar's "Sacrifice a Food" activated ability to return Cauldron Familiar from your graveyard; when it enters the battlefield its ETB triggered ability causes opponents to lose 1 life and you to gain 1 life . You may not sacrifice the same Food to pay more than one cost or to pay Warren Soultrader's sacrifice cost because that cost is paid before the token is created (Ruling [2024-11-08]; ).
