Overview

With Exploration + Ramunap Excavator you can play more than one land from your graveyard in a turn (you’re still constrained by when you may play lands) and can therefore arrange to have another land on the battlefield when Glacial Chasm’s “When this land enters, sacrifice a land.” ability resolves. If Glacial Chasm enters when you control no other lands, you must sacrifice Glacial Chasm itself (Ruling [2008-08-01]). Cumulative upkeep on Glacial Chasm will still trigger each upkeep and must be paid or it is sacrificed . The ability that lets you play lands from your graveyard does not let you activate land abilities in the graveyard [Ruling 2017-07-14].

Step 1

Make sure it is an appropriate time to play lands (your main phase when you have priority); playing a land is governed by .

Step 2

Because Exploration is on the battlefield you are allowed an additional land play this turn (Ruling [2022-12-08]), so you can play up to two lands this turn provided you haven’t already used your land plays .

Step 3

Use Ramunap Excavator’s static permission to play a land from your graveyard (this is still a land play, not 'putting' a land) to play a non-Glacial Chasm land first from your graveyard (playing from graveyard is allowed by Excavator; note Excavator doesn’t let you activate land abilities while they’re in the graveyard (Ruling [2017-07-14])).

Step 4

Now play Glacial Chasm as your second land play this turn (playing it from your hand or graveyard via Excavator). When Glacial Chasm enters the battlefield its triggered ability "When this land enters, sacrifice a land." is put on the stack.

Step 5

When that triggered ability resolves, you must sacrifice a land; because you have another land available (the one you played first) you may choose to sacrifice that other land, allowing Glacial Chasm to remain on the battlefield (if you had no other lands when the ability resolved, you must sacrifice Glacial Chasm itself (Ruling [2008-08-01])).

Step 6

Beginning of each upkeep, Glacial Chasm’s cumulative upkeep will trigger; you must put an age counter on it and then may pay 2 life for each age counter or sacrifice it .

Resolution

You can use Exploration and Ramunap Excavator to play an additional land from your graveyard before playing Glacial Chasm so that when Glacial Chasm’s triggered “When this land enters, sacrifice a land.” resolves you can sacrifice the other land and keep Glacial Chasm. If Glacial Chasm enters and you control no other lands, you must sacrifice Glacial Chasm itself (Ruling [2008-08-01]). Cumulative upkeep still applies each upkeep , and Ramunap Excavator does not let you activate abilities of lands while they are in the graveyard (Ruling [2017-07-14]).
